Happy Holidays
I got two new Christmas dies this year and was so excited to try them both that I made two different cards. The first showcases the Dash Away All die by Tim Holtz from Simon Says Stamp and the second is the Tim Holtz Snowflakes 3D Impresslets.
For the backgrounds I blended Seedless Preserves, Villainous Potion, Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry, Chipped Sapphire, and Broken China Distress inks.
For the Snowflake card I splattered some Dr. pH Martins bleed proof white for the stars. The saying is from Stampn’Up (Star of Light set) and is stamped with Versafine Black Onyx ink. I used holographic paper from Lawn Fawn for the snowflakes.
Now on to the Dash Away All card. I cut out the sleigh in black and white card stocks. I glued the black one on top of the white one, offset just a little, this gave the impression of the moon casting it’s glow on it and set them aside to dry. I stamped the little village (from the Stampn’Up set Classic Cloche) with Versafine Black Onyx ink in the lower left corner.
I placed the small moon mask from the Tim Holtz Layering Moon and Mask in the upper left corner and began the background blending. I used the same colors as in the previous card. I blended carefully around the village being sure to leave enough white space for the snow and a nice warm glow.
I used the stencils to finish the moon in Distress Antique Linen and Hickory Smoke. I also used some Stampn’Up So Saffron ink to give some warmth to the moon and the village below.
For the snowy roofs I stamped the little village on thick paper and with a sharp blade cut out the roof shapes, making a stencil. I used Snowfall Distress Grit Paste and my stencil to add snow to the roofs. I also added some more along the bottom of the village. Once it was dry, I went over it white Wink of Stella to help it look more snowy.
For the pine trees I used the Pink Fresh Wintry Forest Stencils and Versafine Clair ink in Rain Forest. Once the ink was dry, I added some strokes of white Wink of Stella to put snowy layers on the trees.
I used a glue pad to apply glue to the swirl shape from the Stampn’Up Stargazing Set and stamped it onto the card. Be sure to wash the glue off your stamp right away. I then quickly applied Distress Glitter Dust in Vintage Platinum. Finally the sleigh was adhered with foam tape. Ta-dah!
Hope every one had a safe peaceful Holiday season. Wishing the best to you all!
